There are so many options when planning a wedding in Pennsylvania, and many couples begin their venue search feeling a little overwhelmed. We often hear from couples who arrive for a tour unsure of what direction they want to go, and leave excited again once they discover the unique advantages of planning a downtown wedding.

At Arrow Studio & Events, couples love the opportunity to take chic wedding portraits in an urban setting, with countless beautiful backdrops just steps from the venue. Historic architecture, charming streets, and unique locations around downtown Pottsville create endless photo opportunities. Popular spots include nearby landmarks like Yuengling Brewery, the Pottsville Historical Society, local gardens, rooftop views, and tucked-away corners throughout town that make for unforgettable wedding portraits.

Beyond the aesthetic appeal, hosting your wedding in a downtown location also offers practical perks for both couples and their guests.

Couples often enjoy benefits like:

• Lower transportation fees from local downtown vendors such as bakeries and florists
• Walkable lodging options for out-of-town guests
• Easy, walkable locations for welcome parties or after-parties
• Restaurants, coffee shops, and local spots guests can explore throughout the weekend
• Built-in activities like touring Yuengling Brewery, boutique shopping, or even axe throwing nearby

Perks Of An Airy, Loft Wedding Venue

One of the things couples notice immediately when they step into Arrow Studio & Events is how light, open, and inviting the space feels. We’ve jokingly been told by guests that the venue feels like a brighter, airier mashup of Dan’s Brooklyn loft and Serena’s Upper East Side penthouse from Gossip Girl.

The space was thoughtfully designed by husband-and-wife team Allie and Jared to feel both creatively inspiring and naturally beautiful, without requiring couples to spend a fortune on décor. Our goal was to create a loft wedding venue that feels elegant and finished on its own, allowing couples to keep their design simple while still achieving a stunning final look.

Arrow works especially well for couples who love the balance of elegance and industrial character, with room for personal touches like rustic details, greenery, candles, or modern décor elements. The venue’s bright neutral walls, exposed ceilings, and hand-restored historic maple flooring create a timeless backdrop that complements a wide range of wedding styles.

Custom dimmable lighting allows couples to easily shift the atmosphere throughout the evening, from a bright, welcoming ceremony to a warm, romantic reception. Because the space already has so much natural character, couples often find they can skip extra décor elements like chair covers or elaborate installations and still create a wedding that feels luxurious, airy, and thoughtfully designed.

The History Behind Our Venue & Inspiration for Our Downtown Loft Wedding Venue

Arrow is housed inside a historic building at 316 N. Centre Street in downtown Pottsville, Pennsylvania, now reimagined as a downtown loft wedding venue designed for modern, intentional celebrations.

For 92 years, Nathan’s Furniture served the Pottsville community as a family-owned business. The brand operated in multiple locations over the decades before eventually making 316 N. Centre Street its home in the 1950s. Today, that same building is home to Arrow.

Just outside the building, the streetscape adds to the experience. A Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission marker honors Allan P. Jaffe, a Pottsville native and founder of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band in New Orleans. Positioned just steps from Arrow, it brings a sense of history, culture, and character to the setting that makes downtown celebrations here feel even more meaningful.

When owners Allie and Jared purchased the property in July of 2022, the building had been completely vacant since 2010. Remnants of past tenants and the former furniture store still remained, but underneath it all were what they like to call “the good bones” — the kind of craftsmanship and structure that simply feels solid, timeless, and well built.

The building was fully gutted, revealing its original maple flooring and exposing the beautiful ceiling beams that now help create Arrow’s signature loft feel. From the beginning, the vision was to design a space that felt airy, elevated, and flexible. One that honored the character of the historic building while still feeling fresh and refined.

After planning their own wedding in 2018, Allie and Jared came into the project with a unique perspective. Allie brought an extensive background in hospitality, weddings, and events, while Jared brought his expertise as a contractor and builder. He went on to lead the entire renovation through his construction company, overseeing every detail of the build and bringing the vision to life with an exceptional level of craftsmanship and care.

Nearly every element of the space was thoughtfully restored or repurposed. Original features, including the bar, were preserved to honor the building’s history while giving them new life within the design. Allie worked closely alongside the process, refining the aesthetic direction and personally restoring elements like the original maple flooring to ensure the space felt both elevated and true to its roots.

Together, they managed every step of the transformation, pouring themselves into the project and often working late into the night to create something truly special.

The result is Arrow. A downtown loft wedding venue with history, warmth, and versatility at its core. It is a space designed to feel like a chameleon, able to take on romantic, modern, classic, or editorial styles while always maintaining its signature charm.

Yuengling & Son, established in 1829 and known today as America’s oldest brewery. That deep-rooted history is part of what makes choosing a downtown Pottsville wedding venue so special — it is a place with a true sense of story, layered into every street and storefront.
